Ponda: Police detained 21 women from Borim on Friday for allegedly restraining members of the legally elected Borim Sai Baba temple committee from entering the premises. They were later allowed to return home.Ponda DSP Shivram Vaingankar said the women would be booked in a chapter case without arrest and served notices soon.The action follows an alleged July 11 trespass, when 39 people from three Borim wards allegedly entered the temple and took control of it. An FIR was registered and two people arrested.Committee president Dinesh Naik Raikar said members entered the temple under police protection following court directions. They removed locks installed by the mob and found two CCTV DVRs missing and a monitor damaged.Secretary Umesh Naik said important files and money from donation boxes were also missing. Raikar claimed the temple suffered a Rs 20 lakh loss, including donations of around Rs 4 lakh collected on each of four Shravan Thursdays.
