Gurgaon: A 20-year-old man was killed, and his father (62) was severely injured after a truck hit their motorcycle near Jai Singh Chowk in Sector 86 at 1pm on Wednesday.The truck driver abandoned the vehicle at the accident site and fled, leaving the youth Deepak Bairwa and his father Prakash Bairwa, residents of Fakharpur village, bleeding on the road.While Deepak died on the spot, his father, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained injuries to his left leg and is undergoing treatment.Police said the father-son duo, who worked as masons, were returning home on their motorcycle after getting a phone repaired at a mobile service centre in Sector 85 when the accident occurred.In his complaint, Prakash told police that the truck rammed into their vehicle from behind and the impact threw both of them onto the road. The truck’s front wheel then ran over Deepak, killing him on the spot.The accused driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, bearing registration number NL-01 AF-4245.After receiving information through the emergency response vehicle, a police team took the victims to the govt hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared Deepak brought dead. The body was later kept in the hospital mortuary for postmortem. The truck was also seized.Based on Prakash’s complaint, a case was registered under sections 281 (rash driving), 125(a) (acts rashly or negligently, endangering human life), 324(4) (mischief) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kherki Daula police station. Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest the absconding truck driver.
