Itanagar: Nirjuli police have busted a two-wheeler theft gang, arresting four people and detaining two minors.Police recovered 11 stolen two-wheelers during coordinated raids across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).The arrested were identified as Monu Borah alias Durna Bora (31), Govind Nath (28), Khyoda Tako alias Pako (19) and Amit Doley (32). The two children in conflict with the law were detained for their alleged involvement in the racket.The operation followed an investigation into a case registered at Nirjuli police station under Sections 303(2) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, ICR Naharlagun SP Nyelam Nega said on Monday.Two teams led by sub -inspectors Topi Josam and Gopal Tok traced the suspects using technical surveillance, intelligence gathering and field operations. ASP Rishi Longdo and Nirjuli police station OC Inspector Tadu Hassang supervised the operation.Nega urged residents to secure their vehicles, particularly at night. He asked those whose two-wheelers had gone missing in recent months to approach the Naharlagun SDPO or Nirjuli police station with valid ownership documents to identify the recovered vehicles.Further investigation is underway to ascertain the gang’s involvement in other unsolved vehicle thefts.
