2 held with 35kg cannabis worth ₹17.8L in Kutch
Investigators are questioning the accused to identify the source of the contraband

Rajkot: The Kutch East special operations group (SOG) arrested two persons near Samakhiyali village in Bhachau taluka and seized more than 35kg of cannabis valued at Rs 17.8 lakh, police said.The accused were identified as Amna Khatun alias Gauri, 43, and Ayush Kumar alias Shivam, 18. A case was registered against them at Samakhiyali police station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Kutch East SOG in-charge police inspector B V Borisagar said the team received a tip-off that the duo, who had allegedly brought the contraband from Bihar, were selling cannabis on Navagam Road between Samakhiyali and Ambliyara. Acting on the information, the SOG intercepted a car in which the suspects were travelling. A search of their luggage led to the recovery of more than 35kg of cannabis concealed in a suitcase, police said.The preliminary investigation indicated that Khatun had booked a taxi through an app to travel from Ahmedabad to Samakhiyali. Police officials also recovered from her a train ticket for a journey from Danapur in Bihar to Ahmedabad.Investigators are questioning the accused to identify the source of the contraband and its intended recipients in Kutch. Police are also probing whether others were involved in the alleged trafficking network.
