Varanasi: Mubarakpur police in Azamgarh district arrested two persons for submitting fake documents to open a madrassa and obtain recognition of the board concerned.Azamgarh SSP Anil Kumar said Mohammad Hamid (54) and his sibling Mohammad Abid (47) of Baraiypur locality under Mohammadabad police station in Mau district were arrested by Mubarakpur police on Tuesday. They were being searched for after Aamir Hussain, junior portal assistant in the minority welfare department, lodged an FIR against them.Hussain lodged the complaint on Aug 28 on the basis of the outcomes of the investigation done in the case of the complaint against the recognition of Madrassa Jamia Noorul Uloom, Mubarakpur. During the investigation, the minority welfare department detected that the land donation deed filed in 1998 for permanent recognition of the madrassa was forged and fabricated. The madrassa obtained permanent recognition up to the Alia level on the basis of the forged record and was later shifted to another location.Following the findings, Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Board suspended the recognition and directed registration of a case against the managing committee and responsible persons. On the basis of records and investigation, police registered a case, after which a police team arrested the accused near Devkali Taran area.
