Dhubri: Police on Monday busted a gang allegedly involved in theft at Dhubri Medical College and Hospital on Sunday night and arrested two persons. Another accused is absconding.Police recovered the stolen copper wire, two bicycles and some electronic gadgets.A complaint was filed at Dhubri Police Station around 9 am on Monday. Acting on inputs, police arrested Sajidul Mondal alias Boga of Jhagrar Pt-I. Police described him as a habitual offender.During interrogation, Mondal allegedly told police that the stolen copper wire was received by one Boktar Ali of Subarnabhita. A police team searched the area and recovered the wire, two bicycles suspected to be stolen and an e-rickshaw allegedly used to transport the materials.The stolen items were recovered from Rahul Hoque (24) of Jhagrar Pt-III, police said. Rahul was also arrested.Police said the owner of the scrap-dealing establishment associated with Ali was absconding and efforts were underway to trace him.“A prompt investigation was initiated after the theft was reported, and based on source information, one habitual offender was apprehended. His disclosure led to the recovery of the stolen copper wire and other suspected stolen articles. Further investigation is underway,” Dhubri OC Pritam Das told TOI.
