2 held after gunfight for shooting neighbour dead

Noida: Two persons accused of killing their 50-year-old neighbour were arrested on Saturday after a gunfight with police.The accused, Vivek Nagar (27) alias Vicky, and Vishal (25) are both residents of Royal City, Achheja Chapraula, Badalpur.On Thursday, the accused had shot Jeevan Kishore after a heated argument. Kishore’s body was found 200 metres from his home.According to ADCP (Central Noida) Swatantra Singh, police received a tip-off on Saturday that the accused would be in the Badalpur area that night. Teams began conducting checks near the the NTPC cut by the underpass ahead of the Ambuja Cement Factory. During checks, the duo approached on a motorcycle and were asked to stop. However, they began to speed away past the blockade, shooting at the officers as they fled, the ADCP said.During retaliatory firing, the accused both suffered bullet injuries to the leg. The accused were brought to a hospital and are in police custody.“During interrogation, Vishal said Jeevan, who was a dairy trader, would introduce him to acquaintances as his driver and not his friend. This led to a Vishal resenting Jeevan. The accused also believed that Jeevan had a secret relationship with his wife, which only made his resentment grow. However, police probe found no such relationship between Jeevan and Vishal’s wife,” the officer said.
