2 boys killed as bike petrol tank explodes during Ghazipur fire

Varanasi: Two minor boys were killed in a fire that broke out at a house in Devdi village under the Jamania police station area of Ghazipur district on Monday morning after an LPG stove was carelessly ignited and the flames spread to a motorcycle parked inside the house, causing its petrol tank to explode. The explosion intensified the fire and trapped the boys, who had climbed onto a loft in an adjoining room to escape the flames.Ghazipur SP Iraj Raja said the fire initially broke out due to the careless ignition of an LPG stove. As the flames spread, Sundaram Yadav, 12, and Vishal Sharma, 14, climbed onto a loft in an adjoining room to save themselves. The fire later engulfed a motorcycle parked inside the house. When its petrol tank exploded, the flames spread rapidly through the house and nearby areas, trapping the boys.During the initial investigation, police found that Sundaram had accompanied his sister, Rekha, to Vishal’s house to collect milk. After taking the milk, the two boys sat in the courtyard and began talking. Meanwhile, Vishal’s mother, Meena Devi, was cooking in the kitchen when articles kept there caught fire and the flames spread rapidly.Seeing the fire, Meena and Rekha rushed out of the house. The boys panicked and moved to a nearby room, where they climbed onto the loft for safety. The fire was later brought under control by locals.
