Hyderabad: Adilabad police arrested three persons, including two Bangladeshi nationals, for their alleged involvement in a series of burglaries across multiple states. Investigators said that one of the foreign nationals had even managed to obtain an Aadhaar card through fraudulent means.Adilabad district superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan said the arrested were identified as Mohammed Jauni Ali and Mohammed Ruman Ali, both Bangladeshi nationals from Dinajpur, and Tarun Singh of Bhopal.According to police, the two Bangladeshi nationals are part of a 12-member gang from Bangladesh that entered India to commit burglaries. “A detailed investigation is continuing to identify and apprehend other members of the gang, their associates, individuals who facilitated their illegal stay in India, and those who helped them obtain forged identity documents,” senior officials said.Sources said with the help of Tarun and agens, one of the Bangladeshi nationals managed to obtain an Aadhaar card for himself. Police seized 73 grams of gold (50 grams linked to the Adilabad case and 23 grams to a Nagpur case), 151 grams of silver, Rs 4,270 in cash, seven mobile phones including five iPhones, an iPad and a motorcycle. The value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 8 lakh.The arrests were made during the investigation into a burglary reported on the night of July 25 at the residence of Kandi Srinivas, a Congress leader in Adilabad. Acting on CCTV footage and other clues, police tracked the accused on the outskirts of the district border.During the investigation, police found that Jauni Ali had reportedly been involved in multiple offences since 2015 and had previously undergone punishment in a burglary case. Over the past several years, he is believed to have illegally entered India and returned to Bangladesh on 12 occasions through the porous border, police said.Speaking about the latest illegal entry, Mahajan said: “Jauni Ali and his associates travelled through Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra before reaching Adilabad, where they committed the burglary in Kailash Nagar under Mavala police station limits. The accused used to pose as vendors selling pressure cookers and grinders during the daytime to conduct reconnaissance in residential colonies. At night, they would break open locks and commit burglaries.”Police said Jauni Ali is involved in eight cases, while Tarun has links to six burglary cases. CCTV footage played a key role in tracing and apprehending the suspects, police said.
