CHENNAI: As many as 193 winning candidates out of 233 have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). While 77 (72%) out of 107 winning candidates from TVK are crorepatis, the percentage is more among DMK, AIADMK winning candidates.While 57 (97%) of the 59 winning candidates of DMK are crorepatis, 44 (94%) out of the 47 winning candidates of AIADMK are having assets Worth more than Rs 1 crore. All the newly elected candidates of Congress, PMK, IUML, CPI, BJP AMMK and DMDK are crorepatis.While 35% of candidates declared assets worth Rs 1 crore to Rs 5 crore, 16% of candidates have assets ranging from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore, and 32% of candidates have assets worth Rs 10 crore and above.Average assets of the winning candidates have increased from Rs 12 crore in 2021 to Rs 48 crore in 2026.Among the parties, AIADMK’s winning candidates have the highest average of Rs 152.89 crore while TVK candidates have Rs 27 crore and DMK candidates have Rs 14 crore. Congress candidates have Rs 17 crore, PMK MLAs have average asset worth of Rs 22 crore and IUML candidates have 4.4crore. CPI candidates have Rs 4 crore, VCK candidates have Rs 89 lakh as average asset. CPM candidates have the lowest average of Rs 68 lakh.
