Gurgaon: A 19-year-old woman died allegedly by suicide at her residence in Bhangrola village under Kherki Daula police station limits on Saturday evening. A suicide note recovered from the spot indicated she took the extreme step after a man refused to marry her.The deceased, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was in a relationship with Shiva, a resident of Aligarh, UP. According to a complaint filed by her uncle, Shiva allegedly established physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage and took her to hotels on multiple occasions. When she became pregnant, an abortion was carried out. After her family learnt of the matter, she was sent to live with her paternal aunt in Bhangrola village around three months ago. She was employed at a private company.Investigators said the woman’s mother died when she was three months old. Her father later remarried and is currently in jail in connection with another case. She was raised by her grandparents.Based on the uncle’s complaint, police registered a case against Shiva under sections related to rape, causing abortion, and abetment to suicide. The accused is yet to be arrested.Police called in forensic science laboratory and fingerprint experts to examine the scene. The body was sent for postmortem, which was conducted on Sunday, after which it was handed over to the family.“Further action will be taken based on facts that emerge during the investigation,” a senior officer at Kherki Daula police station said.
