17k unused items in hospitals disposed of during cleanliness drive in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: As part of the seven-day Namo Swachhata Abhiyan launched across 12,000 hospitals and health centres in Gujarat, authorities identified 60,883 unused items lying at hospitals and health centres on the first two days. About 17,000 of these were disposed of, the govt said on Thursday. As many as 1,796 items including furniture, ambulances, govt vehicles, medical devices, and IT and electronic equipment were repaired.The govt said that 67 rooms in hospitals and health centres were cleared for future use. The campaign, which will run till July 7, is aimed at ensuring that people receive clean, hygienic, and safe healthcare services, and that patients and their relatives are not at the risk of contracting infections in hospitals.
