Ahmedabad: The stretch from Sarangpur Circle to the DCP Zone-3 office will be widened from the existing 18m to 30m as part of the Kalupur railway station redevelopment project. Seventeen properties falling on the stretch will be razed. AMC has issued a public notice under Section 210 of the GPMC Act to invite objections and suggestions from the public.The proposed widening will merge 2,965 sq m into the existing road. Owners of shops on the stretch have been issued notices to hand back the space which was allotted through permits.Once the railway station redevelopment project is complete, approximately 3.12 lakh passengers are expected to use the station daily. Considering this massive footfall, it has become essential to create proper transit routes as well as reduce traffic congestion in surrounding areas, officials said.
