Pune: Nearly 17 lakh voter records in the district have been flagged under the absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and others (ASDDO) category during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, accounting for almost 20% of Pune’s 90 lakh registered voters.Election officials on Saturday urged residents to check their status on the district collectorate website and report any discrepancies. They clarified that inclusion in the ASDDO list did not automatically mean deletion from the electoral roll. The category was meant for records requiring verification under one of the specified classifications.“The advisory is especially important for voters who have already submitted their enumeration forms (EFs) to booth-level officers (BLOs) but still find their names in the ASDDO list,” an election official said, explaining that delays in digitising submitted forms, as well as duplicate or other verification-related flags, could result in names appearing on the list despite form submission.Sunita R, who had submitted her form and even received an acknowledgement, later discovered her name in the ASDDO list. “BLOw told me that that my name appeared thrice in the list. Two entries remained in the ASDDO list, while I was able to submit my form,” she said.At a polling booth in Kondhwa, a BLO said four duplicate voter entries surfaced when identical forms were found with two different BLOs. Following verification, officials retained a single valid entry in each case and removed the duplicates.Deputy election officer Minal Kalaskar said such instances underlined the need for voters to verify their records even after receiving EF acknowledgements. “An acknowledgement only confirms collection of the form. It does not necessarily mean that the electoral record has been fully processed and digitised,” she said.The officials advised voters whose names appear in the ASDDO list to first determine the reason for the flag and then contact the BLO or electoral registration officer concerned. Cases involving undigitised forms or incorrect categorisation can be rectified through verification and, where required, submission of supporting documents.The officials also cautioned electors against waiting till the final stages of the revision process to raise concerns. For those who have permanently shifted to a different constituency, fresh enrolment at the new address must be sought through Form 6 as part of the SIR process.
