Aizawl: The state excise & narcotics department officials have confiscated over 10kg of methamphetamine tablets in Aizawl and arrested five persons, officials said on Thursday,.According to the spokesperson of the excise & narcotics department, Peter Zohmingthanga, the seizure was made in the Falkland locality at 11.40am on Wednesday, where the officials recovered 10.021kg of methamphetamine, estimated to be around 1 lakh tablets.Two individuals — Jakaria Hussain (28) of Dholcherra, Karimganj district in Assam, and Taj Uddin (25) of Nagharia in the same district — were apprehended at the scene.Further investigation led to additional arrests. Officials said Lalnunziri (38), who claimed to be from Khawmawi in Myanmar and is suspected to have smuggled the drugs into the state, was arrested from Aizawl. Another accused, Vanlalrintluanga (27), involved in transportation of the drugs, was held.
