1,038 youths join AMC’s ‘fire volunteer’ scheme
The primary objective of this scheme, launched to assist the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES), is to strengthen emergency preparedness, enhance public safety and ensure rapid community-level assistance in fire and disaster management situations

Ahmedabad: The “fire volunteer” scheme launched by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to ensure faster and more effective response during emergency situations in the city is receiving an encouraging response from the city’s youth.Under the drive organised in the city, registration of a total of 1,038 volunteers, comprising 1,010 male and 28 female volunteers, has been completed. According to the registration figures, 275 volunteers have joined from the East Zone, followed by 229 from the West Zone and 195 from the South Zone. A total of 126 volunteers have joined from the Central Zone, 110 from the North Zone, 48 from the North West Zone and 43 from the South West Zone. A total of 12 citizens from Auda areas have also registered.The primary objective of this scheme, launched to assist the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES), is to strengthen emergency preparedness, enhance public safety and ensure rapid community-level assistance in fire and disaster management situations. Fire volunteers will function as trained community responders and, in coordination with AMC’s fire and emergency services, will play a significant role in fire prevention, primary firefighting operations, rescue operations and public awareness campaigns on fire safety.
