Surat: All 11 inmates who took the Class 12 board exam from Lajpore Central Jail this year passed, yielding a 100% pass rate and highlighting the jail administration’s efforts to ensure access to education.The results were declared on Monday. Lajpore jail superintendent Shripal Sheshma said their education initiative aims to ensure that inmates are not deprived of their right to education and are better prepared to reintegrate into society after release. Eleven inmates, including four convicted prisoners, took the Class 12 exams in the Feb-March 2026 academic session. A special exam centre was set up inside the jail in coordination with the education department. Undertrial prisoner Mohsin Farooq Sheikh topped among the jail examinees with 59%. Officials attributed the success to regular classes, proper study material, doubt-clearing sessions and continuous academic guidance from jail staff.
