Lucknow: A two-day master training session for 100 participants began on Wednesday under the Meena Manch programme and the Self-Esteem Project.The initiative aims to prepare 450 master trainers who will, in turn, train teachers to better understand sensitive issues affecting children’s self-esteem.The programme seeks to help teachers understand children’s sensitive experiences and communicate with them effectively so that a safe, participatory and respectful environment is created in schools, especially for girl students.Four comic books have been developed and included in the training as teaching resources. Through them, topics such as teasing and bullying based on appearance and physical build, children’s perceptions of their bodies, the connection with one’s own body and its abilities, and the influence of social media are explained.“We are committed to providing girls with an environment of self-esteem, safety and leadership alongside education. Understanding sensitive topics such as appearance, physical build, social media and gender stereotypes is essential for teachers. ,” said Sandeep Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Basic Education.
