New Delhi: Four days after a 40-year-old man was critically injured when he was allegedly set on fire by an associate for more liquor in Rohini’s Vijay Vihar, the accused was arrested on Monday.The injured, identified as tempo driver Rakesh, has sustained around 60% burns and is undergoing treatment at AIIMS, said police.Rakesh told police that he was drinking liquor with Mannu, who went on to demand more alcohol. On refusal, Mannu allegedly grew aggressive and got into a heated altercation before allegedly pouring petrol on Rakesh and setting him on fire. A case was registered.In another incident, a 32-year-old woman patient allegedly tried to self-immolate in front of the Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Sunday evening.The woman was spotted by a guard around 5.40pm after she had allegedly set fire to her gown using a lighter. The guard raised an alarm and doused the fire. Authorities and the woman’s husband were informed.According to police, she is undergoing treatment in the psychiatry ward. She has sustained minor hand injuries.
