Lucknow: A compensation of Rs 8 lakh was provided to the family who lost two girls in the fire. Two cheques of Rs 4 lakh each were handed over to the family in the presence of Lucknow East MLA OP Srivastava on Thursday.The fire, which swept through a shanty settlement in the area, left several families homeless and destroyed years of savings, household belongings, and livelihoods. Expressing deep anguish over the incident, Srivastava visited the site on Thursday evening and spoke to the affected families.The MLA met affected families, listened to their grievances, and assured them of all possible assistance. He described the condition of the victims as “extremely distressing,” noting that many families had lost everything in the fire.Srivastava has written to the CM, urging immediate intervention for relief and rehabilitation. He sought prompt financial assistance from the disaster relief fund along with adequate compensation for the affected families.He asked for free medical treatment for the injured and arrangements for temporary shelters, food, and safe drinking water for the displaced.He called for special camps to facilitate quick reissuance of Aadhaar, ration cards, and other documents to ensure uninterrupted access to govt schemes.He urged govt to provide permanent rehabilitation to affected families on priority under the CM’s Urban Housing Scheme.The MLA appealed to the administration to expedite relief and rescue operations so that assistance reaches all victims without delay. He also called upon citizens and social organisations to come forward and support the affected families in this time of crisis.
