Lucknow: Oudh Bar Association (OBA) of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Tuesday decided to train the 1,238 fresher advocates who are aspiring to become its member.These freshers would be imparted training in three phases for which workshops will be held on April 23, 27 and 29. Around 400 advocates will be trained in each of the first two phases, while 438 advocates will undergo training in the third phase. Membership of the bar will be granted only after completion of the training.Providing details, association’s general secretary Lalit Tiwari said that a large number of advocates registered with the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council have applied for membership of the Oudh Bar Association. This time, it has been decided that all new entrants will be trained before being inducted as OBA members.Tiwari added that under the workshop titled as ‘Know Your Bar’, ‘Know Your Bench’, the participants will be trained in essential aspects such as preparation of cases, drafting techniques and the art of arguments in court. The training will also cover professional conduct with senior advocates, courtroom etiquette and other practical aspects of legal practice.OBA president Pandit S Chandra said that this is the first time in the history of the OBA that training has been made compulsory prior to granting membership to fresher advocates.
