Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) Sunday constituted a Himachal Cell to strengthen outreach among residents of Himachal Pradesh origin living in the city, with a special focus on engaging the youth.The announcement was made during a meeting of members of the Himachali community at Rajiv Gandhi Congress Bhawan in Sector 35.At the meeting, Ankaraj Thakur was unanimously appointed convener of the newly formed Himachal Cell. Party leaders said he would be responsible for expanding the organisation at the grassroots level, connecting with people of Himachali origin, promoting the Congress party’s ideology and addressing community concerns.Addressing the gathering, Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky said Himachal Pradesh is known for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and peaceful social fabric. He described the people of the state as simple, honest and committed to social harmony, adding that they have consistently stood for truth and justice.Party leaders said the new cell would work to strengthen engagement with the Himachali community and increase their participation in organisational activities in Chandigarh.
