Noida: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is set to launch an affordable residential plot scheme offering around 3,800 plots of 40 square metres for lower-income groups in sectors 17,18, and 20.Officials said the move aims to provide affordable housing opportunities for low-income families, particularly those employed in the industrial and logistics hubs emerging around the airport. The move comes amid strong demand for residential land in the region, with YEIDA’s recent housing scheme attracting more than one lakh applications for just 973 plotsThe largest share of the project will be available in Sector 18, where 2,880 plots have been earmarked. Sector 17 will have 455 plots, while Sector 20 will offer 463 plots under the proposed scheme. The plots will measure 40 sq m, following YEIDA ‘s decision last year to increase the minimum plot size for affordable housing from 30 square metres. The revision was approved after an internal survey found that the earlier size was inadequate for constructing functional and safe homes. To keep pace with rapid infrastructure growth near the Noida International Airport—including new industrial parks and logistics facilities — the Authority has resized residential plots to match modern housing demands while prioritising affordability. The upcoming scheme is expected to benefit employees of industries and commercial projects coming up along the Yamuna Expressway.
