Varanasi: A govt primary school teacher was arrested by Kone police in Sonbhadra district on Sunday for allegedly sexually harassing and behaving indecently with minor girl students.Sonbhadra’s CO Obra, Prabhat Rai, said that acting on an informer’s tip, Kone police arrested the accused, Tipu Sultan, 34, of Ramgarh village, from the Tilgudwa area.Based on complaints from parents, Kone police lodged an FIR under Section 75 (sexual harassment) of the BNS and relevant sections of the Pocso Act.In their complaints, the parents alleged that Sultan attempted to commit indecent and sexual offences with the minor girl students by calling them into his office room after school hours.During the investigation, police found sufficient evidence, after which Sections 65(2) (rape of a girl under 12 years of age) and 62 (attempt to commit an offence) of the BNS, and Sections 5(m)/6 and 18 of the Pocso Act were added.
