Job fraud victim allegedly kidnapped, duped of ₹18L

Zirakpur: A Haryana man was allegedly kidnapped, confined in a house and assaulted by three persons who forced him to transfer Rs 18 lakh from his bank accounts in Zirakpur.Based on a complaint by Rahul Soni (32), a transporter from Bhiwani, police have registered a case against Bhawani Singh and two unidentified accomplices under the BNS.Rahul alleged that Bhawani had taken Rs 6 lakh from him about one-and-a-half years ago on the promise of securing a govt job. Despite repeated demands, neither the job was arranged nor the money returned.On July 1, Bhawani allegedly called Rahul to Zirakpur, claiming he would return the money. Rahul said he was taken to a house in Preet Colony, where Bhawani and two associates allegedly overpowered him, tied him up and confined him in a room.The complainant alleged that he was assaulted, after which the accused forcibly transferred Rs 5 lakh from his two bank accounts to Bhawani’s account and another Rs 13 lakh to different accounts, taking the total amount siphoned off to Rs 18 lakh. His mobile phones were also allegedly snatched.Rahul said he later managed to escape and was taken to GMCH-32 for treatment. After being discharged, he lodged a complaint with Zirakpur police.Investigating officer ASI Satinder Singh said a case has been registered and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused. Further investigation is underway.
