Gurgaon: A 24-year-old engineer died after his motorcycle was hit by a Mahindra Scorpio on Old Delhi Road in Sector 14 around 12.30am on Friday. No arrests have been made in the case yet.Yogendra Mishra was returning home after finishing his shift when the SUV hit his black Pulsar. A native of Lakhimpur Kheri in UP, he had recently joined as an assistant engineer at Munjal Showa Limited in Udyog Vihar, Sector 18.His father, Suresh Chandra Mishra, told police that he left for work at 4 pm on Thursday and was riding back to his rented house after completing his shift.Around 12.40am on Friday when he crossed Atul Kataria Chowk and reached Bank Market on Old Delhi Road, a black Scorpio N bearing registration number HR26 FQ 0045, allegedly being driven at a high speed approached from the opposite side and struck Yogendra’s motorcycle.The collision threw him away and left him severely injured, while the car driver fled the scene leaving behind the car. Passersby informed police, following which a patrolling vehicle took the injured to a private hospital on MG Road, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.Both the bike and car were impounded and Yogendra’s father was informed, who later reached the police station and lodged a complaint.Based on his complaint, a case was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (causing death due to negligence) and 324(4) (mischief) of BNS at Sector 14 police station.The body was handed over the family after autopsy. Police said a team is tracing the car owner and efforts are underway to arrest him.
