MUMBAI: Commuters faced delays across parts of the city’s public transport network on Saturday after a technical snag on Metro Line 2A and rain-related disruptions on the suburban railway network. However, despite heavy showers, train services did not come to a standstill as tracks largely remained free of flooding.Metro Line 2A services were affected for over an hour after a technical snag developed around 10.30 am between Dahisar East and Kandarpada stations. According to Maha Mumbai Metro, services were not suspended and trains continued to operate across the corridor. While services between Andheri West and Dahanukarwadi ran normally, trains between Dahanukarwadi and Dahisar East were operated on a single-line bi-directional system, with trains running in both directions on one track under regulated movement. The arrangement resulted in longer waiting times for commuters. Technical teams were working to restore normal two-line operations at the earliest.Meanwhile, heavy rain led to delays on both Western and Central Railway. On Western Railway, waterlogging between Nala Sopara and Virar slowed services, with local trains running about 20-25 minutes behind schedule. On Central Railway, trains were delayed by around 20 minutes due to poor visibility. In addition, waterlogging on the Thane-bound slow line led to trains being operated at restricted speeds as a precautionary measure. Despite the adverse weather, suburban train services continued to run through the day as there was no major flooding of tracks that forced operations to be suspended.
