Haryana offers up to 100% tax waiver to replace old trucks, buses in NCR
The initiative forms part of the state’s efforts to gradually remove ageing, high-emission commercial vehicles from NCR roads and improve regional air quality.

GURGAON: To curb air pollution across the National Capital Region (NCR), the Haryana government has launched a tax incentive scheme offering up to 100% exemption on motor vehicle tax for owners replacing older commercial trucks and buses with cleaner vehicles.The scheme targets owners of BS-IV and older commercial vehicles registered in Haryana’s NCR districts. “Owners who scrap or phase out eligible vehicles and purchase new BS-VI, electric or CNG-powered trucks and buses registered within the NCR will receive a full exemption from motor vehicle tax, said Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon, Uttam Singh.Owners opting for eligible second-hand BS-VI or cleaner commercial vehicles will receive a 50% tax exemption. The concession will remain valid for 10 years from the date of the new vehicle’s first registration, Singh said while urging eligible vehicle owners to take advantage of the scheme.The initiative forms part of the state’s efforts to gradually remove ageing, high-emission commercial vehicles from NCR roads and improve regional air quality.Assistant Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Harender Veer said vehicle owners seeking to retire BS-III or older trucks and buses must scrap them only at authorised vehicle scrapping facilities operating in Haryana.“For BS-IV vehicles, owners have two options: either scrap them at approved facilities or sell them outside the NCR to non-NCAP cities or regions, in accordance with the scheme’s guidelines,” he said.The government has also waived all outstanding motor vehicle tax dues pending for more than one year on BS-IV and older trucks and buses registered in NCR districts, offering additional financial relief to vehicle owners.
