CBI opposes new probe of former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy's murder case

HYDERABAD: CBI on Friday opposed a plea seeking further investigation into the murder of former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, telling a special court that a comprehensive probe had already been completed and that the case should now proceed to trial without further delay. In its response filed before the CBI special court, the agency urged the court to dismiss a petition filed by YS Sunitha Narreddy, daughter of the slain leader, seeking further investigation into the case. The CBI contended that the petition was not maintainable and argued that no additional probe was warranted as the investigation had already been carried out extensively.“Following court orders, a full-scale investigation was conducted and we have already submitted the third supplementary final report. The case is currently at the trial stage. At this point, filing a petition alleging improper investigation is inappropriate,” the CBI said in its response. The agency also stressed the need for the trial to be concluded expeditiously, pointing out that repeated petitions were slowing down the progress of the case.
