Case against Mumbai food franchise CEO for fraud of Rs 4.8 lakh

Mapusa: Colvale police have registered a case of cheating against the CEO of a Mumbai-based food company for allegedly defrauding a local businessman of Rs 4.8 lakh under the pretext of setting up a food franchise in Goa.Police said the accused Ketan Dave, CEO of Dombivli-based CNERG Foods Limited, allegedly induced Nandkishore Jalan, the proprietor of Tivim-based Pushpa Enterprises, to invest in an outlet of ‘Mr Idli’ franchise at Mall de Goa in Porvorim.Dave allegedly convinced the complainant to transfer Rs 4.8 into his personal bank account as payment for procuring kitchen equipment and packaging machinery required for the outlet. However, the accused failed to commence business operations or supply any machinery, prompting Jalan to file a formal complaint.
