Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police have filed a nearly 1,000-page chargesheet in the broad daylight murder of Mohali resident Chamanpreet Singh alias Chinni Kubahedi, naming 10 accused, including alleged mastermind Amreen Rai and gangster Lucky Patial, who police claim orchestrated the conspiracy from abroad.Filed by Sector 3 police, the chargesheet lists around 65 witnesses, including eyewitnesses, gym staff, parking attendants, police personnel, forensic experts, CFSL scientists, the medical board that conducted the post-mortem, and other technical witnesses.Chamanpreet was shot dead on March 18 after emerging from a gym in Sector 9 and entering his SUV when bike-borne assailants opened fire. He succumbed to injuries while being taken to PGI.According to police, the murder was linked to a land dispute. Amreen Rai of Sector 35 has been named the main conspirator, while Rajan alias Piyush Pehalwan of Ferozepur has been identified as the shooter. Pritam Shah of Nawanshahr allegedly rode the motorcycle used in the attack and facilitated the shooter’s escape.Other accused include Janu Malik of Jhampur, Mohali, for allegedly providing financial and logistical support; Kamalpreet Singh alias Kammu, Rahul Sharma alias Paulad and Vikas alias Vicky for allegedly arranging weapons and a stolen motorcycle; and Harshpreet Singh, who allegedly facilitated contact between Amreen and Lucky Patial.Police have also named Mukul Rana, allegedly operating from abroad, for arranging shooters and logistics in coordination with Patial.Investigators claimed that after the murder, Amreen handed over his imported .45-bore pistol to Harshpreet Singh, who was arrested by the crime branch on April 29. During questioning, Harshpreet allegedly disclosed that the weapon belonged to Amreen.The chargesheet relies heavily on CCTV footage, mobile location analysis, call detail records, forensic reports, weapon recoveries and witness statements. Police said the technical and scientific evidence collected during the investigation forms a strong basis for prosecution.
