Varanasi: A two-week ‘Refresher Course in Education’ organised by UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC) of Banaras Hindu University, began online on Friday. A total of 165 participants from across the country have registered for the programme.Course coordinator Prof Alka Rani presented the outline of the training programme. Course coordinator Dr Ajay Kumar Singh shed light on the objectives of the course, academic activities, and the expected participation of the participants.In the inaugural session, acting dean of the faculty of education Prof R N Sharma emphasised the need for continuous professional development in teacher education. VC, Sikkim Vishwavidyalaya, Prof Santanu Kumar Swain, highlighted the importance of innovation, research, and quality teaching in accordance with the National Education Policy-2020.In his presidential address, director, UGC-MMTTC, BHU Prof Anand Vardhan Sharma, called upon teachers to make teaching more effective.
