Burglars outrun CCTV system, decamp with gold jewellery in Ludhiana
The homeowner, Yashpal Singh, a retired veterinary department employee, had gone to Karnal, Haryana, with his family on June 30. Around 2.30 am on Thursday, a mobile alert from his sensor-based home security system woke him. When he checked his live CCTV feed, he saw two men inside his house.

Ludhiana: Two unidentified men broke into a locked house in Ludhiana’s Guru Gian Vihar, Jawaddi Khurd, and escaped with cash and jewellery, despite the owner witnessing the burglary live on his mobile phone via a sensor-based security system.The homeowner, Yashpal Singh, a retired veterinary department employee, had gone to Karnal, Haryana, with his family on June 30. Around 2.30 am on Thursday, a mobile alert from his sensor-based home security system woke him. When he checked his live CCTV feed, he saw two men inside his house.Singh immediately phoned his son, who lives nearby, and asked him to rush to the property. However, by the time the son reached the spot, the burglars had already executed the theft and fled. The family reported that the thieves stole a gold chain, gold rings, silver coins, silver anklets, two ladies’ watches, and ₹7,000 in cash.Following Singh’s complaint, the Dugri police registered an FIR against the unidentified suspects under Sections 331(4) (house trespass) and 305 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).ASI Amlok Singh, the investigating officer from the Dugri police station, confirmed that the FIR has been filed. He stated that the police are currently analysing the digital evidence to trace and arrest the suspects.
