Moinabad drugs case: Telangana high court to decide Rohith Reddy’s bail plea on April 28

Hyderabad: Justice K Sujana of the Telangana high court will pronounce orders on April 28 in the bail petition of BRS leader and former Tandoor MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy in the Moinabad farmhouse drugs and shooting case. Rohith Reddy has been in judicial custody since March 15.Rohith Reddy is charged with offences under the NDPS Act, Arms Act and Telangana Excise Act in addition to relevant sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The petitioner’s counsel TS Anirudh Reddy sought bail on the grounds that police had completed their investigation in the case, and that the petitioner was lodged in Chanchalguda jail since March 15. “Being a former MLA, my client will remain in Telangana and there is no question of tampering of evidence,” the counsel told the court. The counsel contended that except for the attempt to murder charge, the maximum punishment for all other charges was less than seven years of imprisonment. The quantity of contraband allegedly seized from the farmhouse was 0.2 grams of cocaine, which is very small, the counsel said in the bail petition.Opposing bail, public prosecutor Palle Nageshwar Rao contended that Rohith Reddy was a habitual offender and that this was not the first time he was organising such parties at his farmhouse and distributing drugs to participants. Another accused in the case has testified that Rohith Reddy not only consumed drugs but also arranged drugs for other party-goers, Nageswar Rao told the court while opposing the bail plea.
