Panaji: Goa is migrating from the existing state portal to the central Civil Registration System (CRS) portal from this month onwards for birth and death registrations. Birth and death records from 1971 to June 30, 2026, currently available on the state portal, will be integrated into the central CRS portal.Records that are successfully pushed and integrated will thereafter be available on the central CRS portal for citizens to access various birth and death registration services.The Registrar General of India, ministry of home affairs, said the state portal will remain available only for issuing birth and death certificates for records that are yet to be pushed to the central CRS portal. However, with effect from July 1, new birth and death registrations will not be entered in the state portal.The inaugural function was held at the GMC complex, where chief secretary V Candavelou handed over a birth certificate generated through the central CRS portal to the parent of a newborn baby.
