New Delhi: The special cell of Delhi Police has busted another ISI-backed terror-espionage cell and arrested four alleged operatives of Pak-based gangster-turned-terrorist Shehzad Bhatti. One of the accused had conducted the reconnaissance of police establishments in Delhi.According to police, the accused were found using foreign mobile phone numbers to operate their WhatsApp accounts, making it difficult for security agencies to trace their interactions. Bhatti had provided these SIM cards to the accused along with cash payments.During the operation, a team led by ACP Vivek Tyagi recovered two foreign-made firearms — a Zigana pistol and a .30-bore pistol — along with nine live cartridges and five mobile phones. Police said the seized electronic devices contained material that was being examined for further leads into the alleged network and its cross-border links. The cops started tracking this module after inputs revealed that one of Bhatti’s modules was in the final stage of carrying out an attack. The first move was made in Punjab’s Amritsar with the arrest of a man, Shubdeep Singh. Two of his associates, Gurjant Singh and Sajan Singh, were also nabbed. The fourth suspect, Gaganpreet, was arrested in Delhi. The analysis of Shubdeep’s mobile revealed that Bhatti had asked him to conduct recce of religious places and carry out a shooting at a police facility in Delhi. He had also made videos of a few police station pickets in Delhi.Shubhdeep and Sajan were earlier arrested by Punjab Police in a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The others were used by their handlers to pick up drug consignments dropped along the borders through drones, police said.
