Ghaziabad: Two boys died and two others were critically injured after the scooter they were riding — all four minors crammed onto it without helmets — crashed head-on into an Ertiga cab in Indirapuram on Sunday evening.The collision occurred on Kanawani-Pusta road on Sunday evening when the four school friends were out for a casual ride. The boys were Satyam (13) and Shakib (10), who died during treatment, and Ansh (14) and Piyush alias Golu (11), who suffered grievous injuries.Shakib died late on Sunday night, while Satyam succumbed to his injuries on Monday afternoon.Police said the four boys, all former neighbours from Kanawani village, had gone out on a scooter ridden by Ansh. Though some of their families had later moved to Vasundhara, they continued to study in the same school.Abhishek Srivastava, ACP of Indirapuram, said the crash took place around 7pm on Sunday. “Ansh had left home on the scooter and later picked up his friends one by one. The accident occurred when he was dropping them back,” he added.According to police, the scooter was at high speed when Ansh lost control and collided head-on with the cab. “A collision took place between the scooter and the car. It also emerged that the scooter was speeding and Ansh lost control before ramming into the vehicle,” the ACP said.Police said the cab driver, Sahil (22), a resident of Loni who works with an online ride service, was returning to Indirapuram after dropping a passenger in Vasundhara. After the crash, he took the injured boys to hospital in his car. He was later identified through hospital CCTV footage and arrested on Monday night.An FIR was registered at Indirapuram police station under BNS Section 281 for rash driving, Section 106(1) for causing death by negligence, and Section 125(b) for causing grievous hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety.
