HYDERABAD: Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) chief and former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha was taken into police custody after she, along with her supporters, reached HMDA land in Boduppal as part of the party’s ‘Bhu Poratam’ programme.Kavitha alleged that the Congress government had completely ignored Telangana martyrs and activists who participated in the statehood movement despite making promises before coming to power.“Even after 30 months in power, the Congress government has ignored Telangana martyrs and those who fought for Telangana. When we questioned the government and reminded it of its promises, it responded by using police force against us,” she said. She said the Congress had promised 250 square yards of land, a pension, and assistance to the families of Telangana martyrs before coming to power but had failed to fulfil those promises.Earlier, police took Kavitha and several of her supporters into custody when she reached Boduppal, where she named the HMDA land ‘Telangana Udyamakarula Rakshana Colony’ and attempted to perform a pooja. She was later shifted to the Bollaram police station.Kavitha also alleged that both the BRS and the BJP had remained silent on the welfare of Telangana activists who played a key role in the separate statehood movement.
