Surat: A readymade apparel showroom owner lost Rs 2.5 lakh in cash when he left his luxury car running for a brief stop at a paan parlour on April 14. The theft occurred within seconds of the car owner stepping out.Adajan police registered a complaint and are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace the accused. Kamlesh Nenwani, 35, owns a readymade garments and footwear shop near Madhuvan Circle. On the day of the incident, he was on his way to his shop when he parked his car on the road in front of Ganesh Paan Parlour, opposite the petrol pump near LP Savani Circle. Nenwani went into the shop to buy a few items, keeping the car running as he intended to return quickly. When he returned, he noticed that the under-armrest compartment open and the Rs 2,50,000 in cash kept in it was missing. He then realized that someone had opened the door and stolen the cash. Nenwani immediately looked around but could not see anyone suspicious. He later said that he could not approach police immediately due to work commitments. A theft complaint was finally lodged with Adajan police on Monday. Police are investigating the case using CCTV footage from Ganesh Paan Parlour and nearby offices and residential societies.
