Gurdwara demolition: SGPC urges Pak govt to take action against culprits

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Wednesday urged the Pakistan govt to take action against those responsible for the reported partial demolition of the historic Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Farooqabad, Sheikhupura district, and ensure the protection of Sikh heritage sites.SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said the gurdwara, associated with the Singh Sabha Movement, was an important part of Sikh history. Citing reports, he alleged that some persons in Mandi Sakrana, Farooqabad, had demolished part of the shrine in an attempt to encroach on its land.Dhami said Pakistan was home to several historic gurdwaras and Sikh heritage sites, and it was the responsibility of the Pakistani govt to preserve and protect them.He urged the Evacuee Trust Property Board to conduct an immediate and impartial inquiry into the incident, take strict action against those responsible, and ensure the restoration and preservation of the gurdwara while maintaining its historical character.
