Accused abscondingJhunjhunu: Two employees of a cash management company were booked, Wednesday, after an internal audit found nearly Rs1.14 crore missing from 28 ATMs in Jhunjhunu district. The duo allegedly disappeared after abandoning their cash van, triggering an investigation by the company and police. According to police, accused Sumer Singh and Sandeep Singh, employees of CMS, the company responsible for replenishing cash in ATMs, had been handling ATMs in Jhunjhunu, Pilani and Chirawa for nearly a year. On Saturday, both allegedly went missing, leaving behind the ATM keys inside the cash van. Their mobile phones were found switched off. Their disappearance raised suspicion, prompting the company to conduct an internal audit of all 28 ATMs under their charge. The audit found a cash shortage of Rs1.14 crore, officials said. Additional SP Devendra Singh Rajawat said the company informed police that Rs1.14 crore was found missing after the audit of the ATMs managed by the two employees. Following the findings, CMS Sikar branch manager Gaurav Singh Solanki submitted a complaint at Pilani police station against the two employees. Police registered an FIR Wednesday and launched a search for the accused. The incident has caused concern among the banks whose ATMs were serviced by the company, while CMS is conducting a detailed review of its cash replenishment operations in the district.
