Panaji: After bringing all higher education institutes in Goa under the centralised Samarth portal, the Goa State Higher Education Council has now introduced a single integrated school management system SamarthX covering all 1,500 schools in the state. All student related data will now be stored and be retrievable on a single online platform.Samarth and SamarthX have been introduced to realise a recommendation of the National Education Policy 2020, said Mahadev Gawas, project director, Goa State Samarth e-Gov Project Unit, Goa State Higher Education Council.“It is a way of redefining governance. Now, a unified digital ecosystem is in place right from pre-primary level to university level. Goa is the first state in the country to build a fully integrated digital ecosystem that connects every stage of learning up to Goa University through a single platform. The initiative is fully funded by the govt of India with no financial cost to the state govt,” said Gawas.He said the portal will allow the state to manage seamlessly right from a child’s first day in school to graduation from university.“Admissions, academic records, attendance, examinations, faculty management, student services, digital certificates, institutional administration, and governance are now interconnected on a common technology platform, ensuring continuity and transparency throughout a learner’s academic journey,” Gawas said.Goa adopted the national Samarth portal at higher education level, including at Goa University, in 2024. It allowed centralised admissions among other changes in all colleges under the administrative purview of the directorate of higher education.It allowed digitising every major academic and administrative process, including admissions, examinations, attendance, faculty management, Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), National Academic Depository (NAD), DigiLocker integration, institutional dashboards etc.‘The common online admission portal has simplified access to higher education by making admissions faster, transparent, paperless, and student-centric. Building upon this success, SamarthX has been extendedto more than 1,500 schools across Goa. From student lifecycle management, it will allow GPS-enabled attendance, examinations, academic planning, infrastructure management and parent communication,” Gawas said.He said that AI-assisted data validation will be used to monitor attendance, admissions, school performance, vacancies, infrastructure, and compliance indicators in real time.“The transformation shall significantly reduce paperwork, accelerate approvals, and modernise governance. Students benefit from lifelong academic records. Samarth e-Gov and SamarthX help bring every stakeholder—students, teachers, parents, institutions, administrators, and policymakers—onto a common digital platform,” Gawas said.
