Hyderabad: A 49-year-old woman died, and her son suffered injuries when their scooter was hit by a Bolero vehicle at Bahadurpally in Dundigal police station limits on Monday. Two other cars were also damaged in the accident.The deceased was G Udaya Latha, 49, a homemaker from Shanti Niketan Enclave in Bolarum. The accident occurred at 12.50 pm on Monday when Latha was going to Mahindra University in Bahadurpally with her son, G Vedanth Reddy, 22, who is a student there.“Near Ruchi Cafe in Bahadurpally, a speeding Bolero vehicle hit the scooter. Both the victims fell on the road and sustained injuries. After hitting the scooter, the Bolero rammed into two cars travelling ahead before coming to a halt,” Dundigal SI Rambabu said.Latha and Vedanth were rushed to a nearby private hospital in Bahadurpally by the police. “Latha was declared dead at the hospital. Her son is undergoing treatment and his condition is stable,” the SI said.On the complaint of Latha’s family members, a case was registered against the accused Bolero driver, Ravi, under Section 106(1) (causing death due to negligence) and 125(a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS.Police took the accused into custody and subjected him to a breathalyser test. “He was not under the influence of alcohol,” Dundigal inspector P Sateesh said. The body of Latha was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
