Guwahati: The Indian Army on Monday dismissed reports of alleged intrusion of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) into parts of Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district, describing the claims as “baseless”.“We have seen some media reports alleging recent encroachment by Chinese PLA and setting up of camps in Arunachal Pradesh. These reports are incorrect and without any basis,” the Indian Army stated. The clarification comes after the Nah Welfare Society (NWS), an organisation representing the Nah tribal community in Arunachal Pradesh, raised concerns over alleged Chinese incursions along the border in Upper Subansiri district. NWS recently had submitted a memorandum before the Upper Subansiri DC in this regard.NWS had claimed that the PLA had gradually taken control of several areas over the past six years, preventing local residents from accessing lands they had traditionally used for hunting, cattle grazing and agricultural activities.
