Shimla: Four people were killed when the car they were travelling in plunged into a rivulet in Chamba district in the wee hours of Sunday. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled, killing all four occupants on the spot.The victims included Shukardeen (52), Salman (25), Tashi alias Bittu (41), and Sanju, all residents of Karmund village in Churah tehsil of Chamba. They were returning home from a wedding when the accident occurred on the Nakrod-Himgiri Dam road.The locals rushed to the scene after hearing about the crash and alerted the police. The police, along with fire services personnel and villagers, launched a rescue operation, but all four occupants had already died.A police officer said that a team of police personnel reached the accident site soon after receiving information. The bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.This was the second road accident within 24 hours in Chamba.
