Chennai Police Arrest Two for Robbing Software Engineer in Tambaram

Chennai: Two men have been arrested for robbing a software engineer of 11 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 60,000 in cash after befriending him through a dating app in Tambaram.Police said the complainant, Rakesh, 30, a native of Madurai district, has been staying at Mappedu near Selaiyur and works at a private software company in Porur. Rakesh reportedly befriended the duo through an app and invited them to his house near Kolapakkam for a meeting. The suspects stripped him and robbed him of 11 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 60,000 in cash, and fled the scene. They also threatened to circulate private videos they shot of the victim if he approached police.Based on Rakesh’s complaint, Selaiyur police registered a case and launched an investigation. The arrested have been identified as Alexander, 28, of Chromepet and Mohammad Rashik, 26, of the same area.
