Warring hits out at Mann over power crisis, questions flood preparedness

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday slammed the Bhagwant Mann govt over the power crisis in the state.“While Punjab battles a power crisis during the crucial paddy season, Bhagwant Mann seems more focused on stage shows and ‘Milni’ events than governance,” Warring posted on X.“Punjab doesn’t need a performer. Punjab needs a chief minister. Run the govt, not the stage. Solve the power crisis, don’t manage the headlines. Farmers need electricity, industries need power, and people need results, not another publicity event,” he added. In another post on X in Punjabi, Warring said, “Punjab faced devastating floods during the last monsoon. Even then, the Bhagwant Mann govt displayed a lackadaisical approach and CM Mann, instead of standing with the people of Punjab, was busy campaigning in Tamil Nadu.”“Today, I want to ask the Bhagwant Mann govt a direct question: What preparations have been made to protect Punjab from floods this year?” Warring further stated, “The concern is genuine because several alarming incidents have already been reported over the last two weeks. In Faridkot, breaches in two canals damaged crops spread across several acres. Near Sathiali Headworks in Gurdaspur, a nearly 40-foot breach occurred in the Upper Bari Doab Canal, causing extensive damage to houses and agricultural fields. In Rasulpur village of Tarn Taran, another canal embankment breach also resulted in significant losses.”Warring questioned, “If this is the situation even before the monsoon has fully set in, what will happen if Punjab witnesses heavy rainfall?” He added, “The govt must explain what measures have been taken so far to strengthen embankments, desilt canals, and put flood prevention mechanisms in place.”MSID:: 132052376 413 |
