Kolkata: An elderly man had a miraculous escape after he lost consciousness and fell onto the metro tracks at Kalighat station around 7.30 am on Saturday.The man, who was waiting on the platform, collapsed and landed on the track bed. Alert Metro personnel initiated emergency measures and rescued him before any train could enter the station. He was taken out safely and sent to a nearby hospital. Officials said the quick response helped avert a major tragedy.The incident briefly disrupted services on the Blue Line. As a precaution, Metro authorities ran truncated services between Maidan and Dakshineswar stations and between Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Shahid Khudiram stations. After the rescue operation was completed, normal services resumed across Blue Line at 7.44 am.
