Hyderabad: Gachibowli police have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly extorting money from a woman after blackmailing her with private videos recorded in a hotel room during their intimate moments.The accused has been identified as K Nagateja. On June 22, the complainant, a private employee in the city, approached the Gachibowli police alleging that the accused had threatened her with a knife in a hotel room in Gachibowli and forcibly recorded her nude videos. “Using the videos and photos, he extorted ₹1.1 lakh from the victim,” said Gachibowli inspector K Balaraju.The complainant also told police that she came in contact with the accused through Snapchat and later became close to him. On his instructions, she went to the hotel, where he allegedly threatened her and recorded the videos.Acting on the complaint, police arrested the accused on June 25 in Gachibowli. They also seized a knife and two mobile phones from his possession. The inspector said that, prima facie, it appears the accused is a habitual offender and that they will seek his police custody to find out whether he has committed similar offences in the city.
