Rajkot: A lion cub’s carcass found in Amreli’s Dalkhaniya range — the same area hit by the canine distemper virus (CDV) outbreak in 2018 — has put forest officials on alert, though preliminary findings rule out foul play and point to disease as the likely cause.A lion cub, less than a year old, was found dead in the Dalkhaniya range on Friday morning. Forest officials said there were no signs of foul play and indicated that the cub likely died due to multi-organ failure. Principal chief conservator of forests Jaipal Singh said, “The cub has died of some disease and we are investigating the death.”The area had witnessed the deaths of 23 lions in Sep 2018 in the CDV outbreak.
